A Letter from Our CEO
2025 has so far been a milestone year for Echandia, marked by strong growth, international expansion, and important progress in building a more scalable and competitive company.
Revenue for the full year is forecast to grow by more than 100 percent, reaching around 250 MSEK, driven by successful project execution and continued good sales. Echandia is during 2025 delivering several major international projects, with key projects during the year including Öresundslinjen and Scandlines, further strengthening the company’s position as a trusted supplier of maritime energy systems.
The company has also moved its headquarter and production facilities to Bromma, Sweden, providing increased capacity, improved logistics, and a modern environment that supports collaboration and innovation.
Throughout the year, Echandia has strengthened its organization by recruiting key management roles and other important positions, building a stronger foundation for continued growth and operational excellence.
In parallel, the company has taken its first significant step into the US market, establishing production operations with the first deliveries of battery systems for San Francisco Bay Ferries planned for early 2026. This represents an important step in Echandia’s international expansion.
The R&D organization has been reorganized to sharpen focus and accelerate future technology development, positioning Echandia to enhance its competitiveness and innovation capacity.
– Torbjörn Bäck, CEO Echandia
More than 100 battery systems sold worldwide
Echandia has now sold more than 100 battery systems across the global maritime industry. From ferries and tugboats to naval and offshore vessels, our systems are proving their reliability in some of the world’s most demanding applications. The first being Copenhagen’s waterbuses. Seven emission-free electric vessels that transport passengers across Copenhagen’s waterways all day. The largest to date, both in terms of value and system size, is for two Scandlines ferries and this order is currently being delivered and installed.
Echandia has moved into new premises in Bromma
Echandia has taken an important step in its continued growth journey by moving the Swedish headquarter into new, modern facilities. The premises cover just over 4,000 square meters, of which approximately 3,000 square meters are dedicated to production.
Here, we have brought together production, laboratory, and office functions under one roof, creating better opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and efficient development. The building also provides the electrical capacity required for our operations and space to grow in line with increasing demand.
Continued growth
Echandia is expanding steadily in line with the increasing demand for safe and reliable battery systems. We are now around 85 people, and almost all departments have grown proportionally as our business has developed.
The most significant growth has been within R&D in Sweden, reflecting our continued focus on innovation and technical excellence. In addition, our U.S. team has expanded rapidly and now consists of 11 people, strengthening our presence in a highly competitive market for maritime electrification.
